The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted the camel herders a concession regarding spending the night away from Mina. They would throw the pebbles on the Day of Sacrifice, then skip the next day and throw on the day after for two days at once, and then throw again on the day of departure.
حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة القعنبي عن مالك ح و حدثنا ابن السرح أخبرنا ابن وهب أخبرني مالك عن عبد الله بن أبي بكر بن محمد بن عمرو بن حزم عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ رخص لرعاء الإبل في البيتوتة يرمون يوم النحر ثم يرمون الغد ومن بعد الغد بيومين ويرمون يوم النفر
[Its chain is sahih] Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Hajj chapter, section on the concession granted to shepherds allowing them to throw stones one day and skip a day, hadith no. 955, as did Nasai, hadith no. 3070, and Ibn Majah, hadith nos. 3036 and 3037, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Abu Bakr, with this wording. It is also found in the Muwatta (Yahya's recension), 1/408. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih." Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 2975, as did Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 1015, and Hakim, 1/478 and 3/420, and Dhahabi concurred with him.
