Ibn Umar, whenever he came to Mecca, would spend the night at Dhu Tuwa until morning, then bathe and enter Mecca during the day. He used to mention that the Prophet ﷺ did the same.
حدثنا محمد بن عبيد حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أيوب
أن ابن عمر كان إذا قدم مكة بات بذي طوى حتى يصبح ويغتسل ثم يدخل مكة نهارا ويذكر عن النبي ﷺ أنه فعله
Reported by Muslim, Hajj, chapter on the recommendation of spending the night at Dhu Tuwa when intending to enter Makkah, etc., hadith no. 1259, from the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd. And Bukhari, Hajj, chapter on making the ihlal facing the qibla, hadith nos. 1553, 1573, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani, through the same chain.
