He said, "I poured water for the Prophet ﷺ to perform ablution during the Expedition of Tabuk, and he wiped the tops and bottoms of the leather socks."

قال وضأت النبي ﷺ في غزوة تبوك فمسح أعلى الخفين وأسفلهما
[Its isnad is daif] Tirmidhi narrated it in "Purification," in the chapter "What Has Been Said About Wiping Over the Khuffs, on Top and Underneath," no. 97, and Ibn Majah, no. 550, through the hadith of Walid bin Muslim with this wording. Tirmidhi noted a defect in it. Thawr did not hear it from Raja, though an explicit statement of his having heard it appears in Daraqutni, 12/195, no. 742, but the chain leading to that is daif. And Raja did not hear it from the scribe of Mughira.
