The Prophet ﷺ said, "Three things, whoever does them has tasted the flavor of faith. Worshipping Allah alone and knowing that there is no god but Allah, and giving the zakat on one's wealth willingly and gladly, paying it every year. One should not give the aged animal, nor the mangy one, nor the sick one, nor the worthless and inferior. Rather, give from the middle quality of your wealth, for Allah has not asked you for the best of it, nor commanded you to give the worst of it."
حدثنا عبد الله بن سالم عن الزبيدي عن يحيى بن جابر عن جبير بن نفير
قال النبي ﷺ ثلاث من فعلهن فقد طعم طعم الإيمان من عبد الله وحده وأنه لا إله إلا الله وأعطى زكاة ماله طيبة بها نفسه رافدة عليه كل عام ولا يعطي الهرمة ولا الدرنة ولا المريضة ولا الشرط اللئيمة ولكن من وسط أموالكم فإن الله لم يسألكم خيره ولم يأمركم بشره.
[Its chain is daif] Nasai narrated it, no. 2465, from the hadith of Rawh bin Ubada, with the same wording. See the preceding hadith, the hadith of Abdullah bin Muawiya Ghadiri, whose chain is hasan. Yaqub Farsi also narrated it in his Tarikh, 1/269, as did Tabarani in Saghir, 1/201, and others.
