Yahya bin Ayub, who had prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ facing both qiblahs, reported that he asked, "Messenger of Allah, may I wipe over my leather socks?"He replied, "Yes."He asked, "For one day?"He said, "For one day."He asked, "And for two days?"He said, "And for two days."He asked, "And for three?"He said, "Yes, and for as long as you wish."

[Its chain is daif] Bayhaqi narrated it, 1/279, from the hadith of Abu Dawud with the same wording, and Ibn Majah narrated it, hadith no. 557, from the hadith of Ayub bin Qatan, from Ubada bin Nusai, from Ubayy bin Umara, and so on. Daraqutni said, Abdul-Rahman, Muhammad bin Yazid, and Ayub bin Qatan are all unknown narrators. This chain of transmission is not established.
