The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out during Ramadan and saw some people praying in a corner of the mosque.He asked, "Who are these people?"It was said, "These are people who know the Quran. Ubayy bin Kaab is leading the prayer, and they are praying behind him."The Prophet ﷺ said, "They have done well, and what they have done is excellent."
حدثنا أحمد بن سعيد الهمداني حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب أخبرني مسلم بن خالد عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه
خرج رسول الله ﷺ فإذا أناس في رمضان يصلون في ناحية المسجد فقال ما هؤلاء فقيل هؤلاء ناس معهم قرآن وأبي بن كعب يصلي وهم يصلون بصلاته فقال النبي ﷺ أصابوا ونعم ما صنعوا

[Hasan] Bayhaqi (2/495) narrated it from the hadith of Abu Dawud with this chain, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, h: 2208, as did Ibn Hibban, h: 921.
