He slept at the Prophet's ﷺ place and saw him wake up, use the tooth-stick, perform ablution, while reciting "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth..." [Aal Imran 3:190] until he completed the surah. Then he stood and prayed two units of prayer, lengthening the standing, bowing, and prostration in them. Then he went back and slept until he could be heard breathing deeply.He did this three times, performing six units of prayer in total, each time using the tooth-stick, performing ablution, and reciting these verses. Then he prayed witr.Uthman said, with three units. Then the muezzin came to him and he went out to the prayer.Ibn Isa said, then he prayed witr, and Bilal came to him and called him to the prayer when dawn broke. He prayed the two units of the dawn prayer, then went out to the prayer.Then both narrators agreed, and he was saying, "O Allah, place light in my heart, place light on my tongue, place light in my hearing, place light in my sight, place light behind me, light before me, place light above me, and light beneath me. O Allah, and increase my light."
حدثنا محمد بن عيسى حدثنا هشيم أخبرنا حصين عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت ح و حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن حصين عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن محمد بن علي بن عبد الله بن عباس عن أبيه
أنه رقد عند النبي ﷺ فرآه استيقظ فتسوك وتوضأ وهو يقول {إن في خلق السموات والأرض} حتى ختم السورة ثم قام فصلى ركعتين أطال فيهما القيام والركوع والسجود ثم انصرف فنام حتى نفخ ثم فعل ذلك ثلاث مرات بست ركعات كل ذلك يستاك ثم يتوضأ ويقرأ هؤلاء الآيات ثم أوتر قال عثمان بثلاث ركعات فأتاه المؤذن فخرج إلى الصلاة وقال ابن عيسى ثم أوتر فأتاه بلال فآذنه بالصلاة حين طلع الفجر فصلى ركعتي الفجر ثم خرج إلى الصلاة ثم اتفقا وهو يقول اللهم اجعل في قلبي نورا واجعل في لساني نورا واجعل في سمعي نورا واجعل في بصري نورا واجعل خلفي نورا وأمامي نورا واجعل من فوقي نورا ومن تحتي نورا اللهم وأعظم لي نورا
