Convey our greetings of peace to her and ask her about the two units of prayer after the afternoon prayer. Tell her, "We have been told that you pray them, but we have heard that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade them."So I went in to her and told her what they had sent me with.She said, "Ask Umm Salama."I went out to them and told them what she had said, and they sent me back to Umm Salama with the same message they had sent me with to Ayesha.Umm Salama said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid them, then I saw him pray them. As for when he prayed them, he had prayed the afternoon prayer and then came in, and with me were some women of Banu Haram from the Ansar. He prayed those two units, so I sent the servant girl to him and said, 'Stand beside him and say to him, Umm Salama says, Messenger of Allah, I hear you forbidding these two units yet I see you praying them. If he gestures with his hand, then step back from him.'"She said, "The servant girl did so. He gestured with his hand, and she stepped back from him. When he finished, he said, 'Daughter of Abu Umaya, you asked about the two units after the afternoon prayer. Some people from Abdul-Qays came to me with their people's acceptance of Islam and distracted me from the two units after the noon prayer. These are those two.'"

اقرأ عليها السلام منا جميعا وسلها عن الركعتين بعد العصر وقل إنا أخبرنا أنك تصلينهما وقد بلغنا أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عنهما فدخلت عليها فبلغتها ما أرسلوني به فقالت سل أم سلمة فخرجت إليهم فأخبرتهم بقولها فردوني إلى أم سلمة بمثل ما أرسلوني به إلى عائشة فقالت أم سلمة سمعت رسول الله ﷺ ينهى عنهما ثم رأيته يصليهما أما حين صلاهما فإنه صلى العصر ثم دخل وعندي نسوة من بني حرام من الأنصار فصلاهما فأرسلت إليه الجارية فقلت قومي بجنبه فقولي له تقول أم سلمة يا رسول الله أسمعك تنهى عن هاتين الركعتين وأراك تصليهما فإن أشار بيده فاستأخري عنه قالت ففعلت الجارية فأشار بيده فاستأخرت عنه فلما انصرف قال يا بنت أبي أمية سألت عن الركعتين بعد العصر إنه أتاني ناس من عبد القيس بالإسلام من قومهم فشغلوني عن الركعتين اللتين بعد الظهر فهما هاتان
Bukhari narrated it in "Forgetfulness [in Prayer]," chapter, "When someone speaks to a person while he is praying and he gestures with his hand and listens," no. 1233, and Muslim in "Prayer of the Traveler," chapter, "Knowledge of the two rakahs that the Prophet used to pray after Asr," no. 834, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Wahb, with the same chain.
