He was a companion of the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever neglects three Friday prayers out of indifference, Allah will place a seal upon his heart."
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن محمد بن عمرو قال حدثني عبيدة بن سفيان الحضرمي
وكانت له صحبة أن رسول الله ﷺ قال من ترك ثلاث جمع تهاونا بها طبع الله على قلبه
Its isnad is hasan. Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on abandoning Friday prayer without an excuse, no. 500, Nasai, no. 1370, and Ibn Majah, no. 1125, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Amr Laythi through this same chain. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan." Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1857, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 553, 65, 554, and Hakim, who said it meets the criteria of Muslim, 1/280, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
