He used to push through the crowd to reach the two corners with a vigor I never saw any of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ display. So I said, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, you press through the crowd to reach the two corners in a way I have never seen any of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ do."He replied, "If I do so, it is because I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Touching them is an expiation for sins.' And I heard him say, 'Whoever circuits this House seven times and counts them carefully, it is as if he freed a slave.' And I heard him say, 'He does not place one foot down and lift the other except that Allah removes a sin from him and records for him a good deed.'"
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا جرير عن عطاء بن السائب عن ابن عبيد بن عمير عن أبيه أن
كان يزاحم على الركنين زحاما ما رأيت أحدا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ يفعله فقلت يا أبا عبد الرحمن إنك تزاحم على الركنين زحاما ما رأيت أحدا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ يزاحم عليه فقال إن أفعل فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن مسحهما كفارة للخطايا وسمعته يقول من طاف بهذا البيت أسبوعا فأحصاه كان كعتق رقبة وسمعته يقول لا يضع قدما ولا يرفع أخرى إلا حط الله عنه خطيئة وكتب له بها حسنة
[Hasan] Hakim reported it in 1/489 through Jareer, and he was corroborated by Maamar and Thawri, as found in Ahmad 2/89. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2730, as did Ibn Hibban (al-Ihsan) 3689, and Hakim, with Dhahabi agreeing with him.Nasai narrated it, no. 2922, through the route of Hammad bin Zayd, from Ataa, from Abdullah bin Ubayd bin Umayr, through the same chain, without saying "from his father."
