The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted the camel herders a concession regarding spending the night away from Mina. They could perform the stoning on the Day of Sacrifice, then combine the stoning of the two following days into one of them and stone on that single day.Malik said, "I think he said it was on the first of the two days." Then they would stone again on the day of departure.
[Its chain of transmission is sahih.] Abu Dawud also reported it in the Book of Rites, chapter, On throwing the pebbles, hadith no. 1975, from the hadith of Malik through this chain, and it is found in Muwatta, 1/408 (Yahya's narration). Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 2975, as did Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 1015, and Hakim, 10/478 and 3/420, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
