The Messenger of Allah ﷺ camped at al-Abtah only because it made his departure easier.
حدثنا محمد بن عبد الأعلى حدثنا يزيد بن زريع حدثنا حبيب المعلم عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
إنما نزل رسول الله ﷺ الأبطح لأنه كان أسمح لخروجه
Agreed upon (by Bukhari and Muslim). Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj, chapter on the recommendation of stopping at Muhassab on the day of departure, etc., hadith no. 1311, from the hadith of Yazid bin Zuray, and Bukhari, hadith no. 1765, from the hadith of Hisham bin Urwa, with the same wording.
