He was walking during the saee, so I said to him, "Are you walking during the saee between Safa and Marwa?"He replied, "If I run, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ run, and if I walk, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walk. And I am an old man."
حدثنا يوسف بن عيسى حدثنا ابن فضيل عن عطاء بن السائب عن كثير بن جمهان قال
يمشي في السعي فقلت له أتمشي في السعي بين الصفا والمروة قال لئن سعيت لقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يسعى ولئن مشيت لقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يمشي وأنا شيخ كبير
[Hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in Al-Manasik, chapter on the command regarding Safa and Marwa, no. 1904, as did Ibn Majah, no. 2988, and Nasai, 5/241, no. 2979, from the hadith of Ata bin Saaib, narrated with this same chain. Sufyan Thawri and others narrated it from him, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2770, 2771.
