The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed saee around the House and between Safa and Marwa only to show the polytheists his strength.
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن عمرو بن دينار عن طاوس
إنما سعى رسول الله ﷺ بالبيت وبين الصفا والمروة ليري المشركين قوته
Agreed upon. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Hajj, Chapter on How the Ramal Began, no. 1602, and Muslim, no. 1266, through another route from Ibn Abbas with the same wording.There are also narrations on this subject from Ayesha [Bukhari, no. 1643, and Muslim, no. 1277], Ibn Umar [to come, no. 864], and Jabir [Muslim, no. 1218].
