The Prophet ﷺ passed by two graves and said, "These two are being punished, and they are not being punished for something major. As for this one, he did not shield himself from his urine, and as for this one, he used to walk about spreading tale-bearing."
حدثنا هناد وقتيبة وأبو كريب قالوا حدثنا وكيع عن الأعمش قال سمعت مجاهدا يحدث عن طاوس
أن النبي ﷺ مر على قبرين فقال إنهما يعذبان وما يعذبان في كبير أما هذا فكان لا يستتر من بوله وأما هذا فكان يمشي بالنميمة
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Purification, chapter on the evidence for the impurity of urine and the obligation of avoiding it, no. 292, from Abu Kurayb, and Bukhari, in the Book of Wudu, chapter on it being among the major sins not to shield oneself from one's urine, nos. 216, 218, from the hadith of Amash, with this wording.There is also a version on this subject from Zayd bin Thabit, which we did not find, though he has a wording in Muslim and Ahmad 5/190 that makes no mention of urine, and from Abu Bakra [Ibn Majah, no. 349], Abu Hurairah [Ibn Majah, no. 348], and Abu Musa [Bukhari, no. 226, and Muslim, no. 273, and Abu Dawud mentioned it without a full chain, no. 22], and Abdul-Rahman bin Hasanah [Abu Dawud, no. 22].Waki said, its isnad is sahih.
