The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever finds dates, let him break his fast with them, and whoever does not, let him break his fast with water, for water is purifying."
حدثنا محمد بن عمر بن علي المقدمي حدثنا سعيد بن عامر حدثنا شعبة عن عبد العزيز بن صهيب
قال رسول الله ﷺ من وجد تمرا فليفطر عليه ومن لا فليفطر على ماء فإن الماء طهور
[Sahih]. Nasai narrated it in Al-Kubra, no. 3317, from Muhammad bin Umar bin Ali with the same chain. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2066, and Hakim, 1/431, said it meets the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations in Abu Dawud, no. 2356, and elsewhere.On this subject there is also a narration from Salman bin Amir [to come, no. 695].
