I was praying while the Prophet ﷺ was present, with Abu Bakr and Umar alongside him. When I sat down, I began by praising Allah, then sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, then I made supplication for myself.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ask and you shall be given. Ask and you shall be given."

كنت أصلي والنبي ﷺ وأبو بكر وعمر معه فلما جلست بدأت بالثناء على الله ثم الصلاة على النبي ﷺ ثم دعوت لنفسي فقال النبي ﷺ سل تعطه سل تعطه
[Hasan]. Baghawi also narrated it in Sharh al-Sunnah, no. 1401, from the hadith of Tirmidhi, through the same route. Abu Bakr Ibn Ayyash, followed by Zaida (Mujam al-Kabir by Tabarani, 9/62, no. 8417), and the hadith has very many corroborating narrations with Ibn Hibban, no. 2436, and others.On this subject there is also a report from Fadala bin Ubayd [to come: 3476].
