He used to pray Maghrib with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then return to his people and lead them in prayer.

Sourcing, sahih. Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on reciting in the Isha prayer, no. 465, from the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd, with the same wording. Bukhari narrated it in abridged form, no. 700, from the hadith of Amr bin Dinar, with the same wording. The saying of Abu Darda, I did not find it.
