The Prophet ﷺ used to break his fast on the day of Eid al-Fitr by eating dates before going out to the prayer ground.
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا هشيم عن محمد بن إسحق عن حفص بن عبيد الله بن أنس
أن النبي ﷺ كان يفطر على تمرات يوم الفطر قبل أن يخرج إلى المصلى
[Sahih]. Ibn Khuzayma also narrated it, no. 1428, from the hadith of Hushaym through this route, and he made explicit that it was heard directly. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (al-Ihsan): 2802, as did Hakim, 1/294, saying it met the criterion of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him and narrated it through this route. Bukhari narrated it, no. 953, through another route from Anas.
