I saw the Prophet ﷺ, after the prayer had been called to begin, with a man standing between him and the qiblah speaking to him. The man would keep talking to him, and I saw some of us dozing off from how long the Prophet ﷺ stood listening to him.
حدثنا الحسن بن علي الخلال حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن ثابت
لقد رأيت النبي ﷺ بعد ما تقام الصلاة يكلمه الرجل يقوم بينه وبين القبلة فما يزال يكلمه فلقد رأيت بعضنا ينعس من طول قيام النبي ﷺ له
[Its isnad is sahih] Ahmad narrated it, 3/161, from Abdul-Razzaq, and Bukhari, no. 643, and Muslim, no. 376, from the hadith of Thabit through this route. It also has another route in Bukhari, no. 642, and Muslim, no. 376.
