He entered on Friday while Marwan was delivering the sermon, so he stood up to pray. The guards came to make him sit down, but he refused until he had finished his prayer. When he had completed it, we came to him and said, "May Allah have mercy on you, they nearly assaulted you."He replied, "I would never abandon these two units of prayer after something I witnessed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Then he mentioned that a man came on a Friday in shabby appearance while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the Friday sermon, and the Prophet ﷺ instructed him to pray two units while he was still delivering the sermon.Ibn Abu Umar said, Sufyan bin Uyayna used to pray two units when he arrived while the imam was giving the sermon, and he would instruct others to do the same, and Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Muqri held the same view.
[Hasan]. Nasai also narrated it (3/106, 107, no. 1409) (Book of Friday, Chapter: Encouraging the Imam to Give Charity on Friday), and Ibn Majah narrated it (no. 1113), from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Muhammad bin Ajlan, with the same chain, and both of them stated explicitly that they heard it directly. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (no. 1799, 1830, 2481). Ibn Uyayna's statement, "Ibn Ajlan was trustworthy..." and so on, is sahih and firmly established from him. The report of Hasan Basri is sahih from him. Ala bin Khalid is daif, but he was not alone in narrating it, since Ibn Awn and Hammad corroborated him, from Abu Darda, as recorded by Ibn Abu Shayba (no. 5164, 5165). The hadith of Jabir was narrated by Ibn Majah (no. 1115).On this subject there are also narrations from Jabir [mentioned earlier at no. 510], Abu Hurairah [Ibn Majah, no. 1114], and Sahl bin Saad [Ilal Ibn Abu Hatim, as cited in Tuhfat Ahwadhi, 1/364].
