The Prophet ﷺ said, "Jibreel came to me and said, 'Muhammad, when you perform ablution, sprinkle water.'"

[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Ibn Majah also reported it in the Book of Purification, chapter on what has been said about sprinkling water after wudu, hadith 463, through the narration of Abu Qutayba Salm, with this chain.On this subject there are also narrations from Hakam bin Sufyan [Abu Dawud, hadith 168], Ibn Abbas [Darimi 1/180, hadith 717, and Bayhaqi 1/162], Zayd bin Haritha [Ibn Majah, hadith 462], and Abu Saeed Khudri [we did not find it].
