Its isnad is sahih. Ahmad narrated it (9/2) from Sufyan bin Uyayna with the same wording, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly. Bukhari (894) and Muslim (844) also narrated it from the hadith of Zuhri with the same wording, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly.There are also narrations on this subject from Abu Saeed [Bukhari, 858, and Muslim, 1046], Umar [coming up, 494], Jabir [Nasai, 1379], Bara [coming up, 528], Ayesha [Bukhari, 902, and Muslim, 847], and Abu Darda [Dulabi in al-Kuna, 2/146].
