The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Salman, do not come to hate me, for then you would forsake your religion."I said, "Messenger of Allah, how could I hate you when it was through you that Allah guided us?"He replied, "You would hate the Arabs, and so come to hate me."
حدثنا محمد بن يحيى الأزدي وأحمد بن منيع وغير واحد قالوا حدثنا أبو بدر شجاع بن الوليد عن قابوس بن أبي ظبيان عن أبيه
قال لي رسول الله ﷺ يا سلمان لا تبغضني فتفارق دينك قلت يا رسول الله كيف أبغضك وبك هدانا الله قال تبغض العرب فتبغضني
[Its chain is daif]. Ahmad narrated it, 5/440, from Shuja bin Walid through the same route, and Hakim graded it sahih, 4/86, but Dhahabi said, "Qabus has been criticized, and he is weak in memory, as noted previously."
