The ally of the clan of Abdul-Muttalib reported that the Prophet ﷺ stood up during the noon prayer when he should have remained seated. After completing his prayer, he performed two prostrations, saying takbir for each one while seated, before giving the salam. The people prostrated along with him, making up for the sitting he had forgotten.
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا الليث عن ابن شهاب عن الأعرج
حليف بني عبد المطلب أن النبي ﷺ قام في صلاة الظهر وعليه جلوس فلما أتم صلاته سجد سجدتين يكبر في كل سجدة وهو جالس قبل أن يسلم وسجدهما الناس معه مكان ما نسي من الجلوس
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sahw, chapter, "He says the takbir in the two prostrations of sahw," hadith no. 1230, and Muslim, hadith no. 570, from Qutayba, with the same wording.There is also a narration on this subject from Abdul-Rahman bin Awf [to come, no. 398].The report of Hisham Dastawai, from Yahya, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Harith Taymi, its isnad is daif, since Yahya bin Abu Kathir was a mudallis and narrated with an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana).
