Umar bin Khattab reported,

He allotted Usama bin Zayd a stipend of three thousand five hundred, and he allotted Abdullah bin Umar three thousand.Abdullah bin Umar said to his father, "Why have you favored Usama over me? By Allah, he never preceded me to any battle."He replied, "Because Zayd was more beloved to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than your father, and Usama was more beloved to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than you. So I gave preference to the one loved by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ over the one I love."He said, this is a hasan gharib hadith.

أنه فرض لأسامة بن زيد في ثلاثة آلاف وخمس مائة وفرض لعبد الله بن عمر في ثلاثة آلاف قال عبد الله بن عمر لأبيه لم فضلت أسامة علي فوالله ما سبقني إلى مشهد قال لأن زيدا كان أحب إلى رسول الله ﷺ من أبيك وكان أسامة أحب إلى رسول الله ﷺ منك فآثرت حب رسول الله ﷺ على حبي قال هذا حديث حسن غريب
