Anas bin Malik reported,
Four men compiled the Quran during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, all of them from the Ansar, Ubayy bin Kaab, Muaz bin Jabal, Zayd bin Thabit, and Abu Zayd.The narrator said, "I asked Anas, 'Who is Abu Zayd?'"Anas replied, "One of my paternal uncles."

Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in Merits of the Ansar, chapter on the merits of Zayd bin Thabit, hadith no. 3810, from Muhammad bin Bashshar, and Muslim, hadith no. 2465, from the hadith of Shubah with the same chain.
