Ayesha reported,
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Among the nations before you there were people who were divinely inspired. If there is anyone in my nation, it is Umar bin Khattab."

Muslim also narrated it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions, Chapter on the Virtues of Umar , no. 2398, from Qutayba, and Bukhari, no. 3469, from the hadith of Saad bin Ibrahim, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, with the same wording. The wording in Bukhari is, "If there was one among my nation who was among them, it is Umar bin Khattab."
