The Prophet ﷺ sent me on an errand, and when I returned, I found him praying on his mount facing east, with his prostration lower than his bowing.
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا وكيع ويحيى بن آدم قالا حدثنا سفيان عن أبي الزبير
بعثني النبي ﷺ في حاجة فجئت وهو يصلي على راحلته نحو المشرق والسجود أخفض من الركوع
[Sahih]. It was also reported by Abu Dawud in the chapter on prayer while traveling, section on voluntary prayer on a mount and Witr, hadith no. 1227, from the narration of Waki with the same chain, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 1270, as did Ibn Hibban (Al-Ihsan): 2515, 2516, and Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah, hadith no. 1038. Muslim also reported it, hadith no. 540, through the route of Abu Zubayr with the same chain.On this subject there are also narrations from Anas [Abu Dawud, hadith no. 1225], Ibn Umar [coming up: 352], Abu Saeed [Ahmad: 3/73], and Amir bin Rabia [Bukhari, hadith no. 1093, and Muslim, hadith no. 701].
