The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach his companions, saying, "When morning comes, let one of you say, 'O Allah, by You we enter the morning, by You we enter the evening, by You we live, by You we die, and to You is the final return.' And when evening comes, let him say, 'O Allah, by You we enter the evening, by You we enter the morning, by You we live, by You we die, and to You is the resurrection.'"
[Its isnad is sahih]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Manners, Chapter on What One Should Say Upon Waking in the Morning, hadith no. 5068, from the hadith of Suhayl through him, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith nos. 2354 and 2355, as did Hafiz in Nataij Afkar.
