He claimed that he was sitting in al-Bathaa among a group of people, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sitting among them, when a cloud passed overhead. They looked at it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Do you know what this is called?"They replied, "Yes, this is a cloud."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "And al-muzn?"They said, "And al-muzn."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "And al-anan?"They said, "And al-anan."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked them, "Do you know how great the distance is between the heaven and the earth?"They said, "No, by Allah, we do not know."He said, "The distance between them is either seventy-one, seventy-two, or seventy-three years, and the heaven above it is the same," until he counted seven heavens in this manner. Then he said, "Above the seventh heaven is a sea, the distance between its surface and its depth is like the distance between one heaven and another. Above that are eight mountain goats, the distance between their hooves and their knees is like the distance between one heaven and another. Then upon their backs is the Throne, the distance between its lower part and its upper part is like the distance between one heaven and another, and Allah is above that."Abd bin Humayd said, I heard Yahya bin Maeen say, "Does Abdul-Rahman bin Saad not intend to perform Hajj so that we may hear this hadith from him?"
Grading, its chain of transmission is daif.It was also narrated by Abu Dawud in the Book of Sunnah, chapter on the Jahmiyyah, hadith 4724, from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Saad, through the same route. Simak's memory became confused, and Abdullah bin Umayrah's hearing from Ahnaf is not established, as Bukhari stated. The hadith of Walid bin Abu Thawr was narrated by Abu Dawud, hadith 4723. The hadith of Sharik was narrated by Hakim, 2/500, 501, who graded it sahih according to the criterion of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him(!).
