While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Mina, the moon split into two halves, one half behind the mountain and the other in front of it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "Bear witness," referring to "The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split" [Qamar 54:1].He said, this is a hasan sahih hadith.
حدثنا علي بن حجر أخبرنا علي بن مسهر عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن أبي معمر
بينما نحن مع رسول الله ﷺ بمنى فانشق القمر فلقتين فلقة من وراء الجبل وفلقة دونه فقال لنا رسول الله ﷺ اشهدوا يعني {اقتربت الساعة وانشق القمر} قال هذا حديث حسن صحيح
[ Agreed upon, and Muslim reported it in the Book of the Attributes of the Hypocrites, Chapter on the Splitting of the Moon, hadith 2800, from the hadith of Ali bin Mushir, and Bukhari, hadith 4864, from the hadith of Amash, with the same wording.
