The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The House was named al-Bayt al-Atiq (the Ancient House) only because no tyrant has ever overpowered it."

[Its isnad is daif] Hakim narrated it in 2/389 and Bayhaqi in Dalail, 1/125, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Salih through the same chain. Hakim graded it sahih according to the standard of Bukhari, and Dhahabi agreed with him according to the standard of Muslim(!). Zuhri used the ambiguous form "an" in his narration, and there is another flaw in it as well.
