The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will be the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and I say this without boasting. In my hand will be the Banner of Praise, and I say this without boasting. There will not be a prophet on that day, neither Adam nor anyone else, who will not be under my banner. I will be the first one for whom the earth splits open, and I say this without boasting."He continued, "People will be struck by three waves of terror. They will come to Adam and say, 'You are our father Adam, so intercede for us with your Lord.'Adam will reply, 'I committed a sin for which I was sent down to the earth. But go to Nuh.'So they will go to Nuh, and he will say, 'I once invoked a curse against the people of the earth, and they were destroyed because of it. But go to Ibrahim.'So they will go to Ibrahim, and he will say, 'I told three lies.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Not one of those statements was anything but a defense of the religion of Allah. But Ibrahim will say, 'Go to Musa.'So they will go to Musa, and he will say, 'I killed a soul. But go to Isa.'So they will go to Isa, and he will say, 'I was worshipped besides Allah. But go to Muhammad.'"He said, "So they will come to me, and I will set out with them."Ibn Judaan said, Anas said, "It is as though I am looking at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ right now."He said, "I will take hold of the ring of the gate of Paradise and rattle it. It will be asked, 'Who is this?' It will be answered, 'Muhammad.' Then they will open the gate for me and welcome me, saying, 'Welcome.' I will fall down in prostration, and Allah will inspire me with words of praise and glorification. Then it will be said to me, 'Raise your head. Ask, and you will be granted. Intercede, and your intercession will be accepted. Speak, and your words will be heard.' This is the Praised Station that Allah mentioned in His words, "It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Praised Station" [Isra 17:79]."Sufyan said, "Nothing from Anas is reported except this phrase, 'I will take hold of the ring of the gate of Paradise and rattle it.'"
[Hasan] Ibn Majah also related it in the book of Zuhd, chapter on the mention of intercession, no. 4308, through the hadith of Ali bin Zayd bin Jadan by this route, but he was not the only one to narrate it, and the hadith has corroborating narrations.
