A man stole an unlawful kiss from a woman, then came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about its expiation. So the verse was revealed, "And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and during parts of the night. Indeed, good deeds drive away bad deeds" [Hud 11:114].The man asked, "Messenger of Allah, is this for me?"He replied, "It is for you and for whoever among my community acts upon it."
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the tafsir, chapter of His saying, "And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night," and so on, hadith 4687, and Muslim, hadith 2763, from the hadith of Sulayman Taymi through this same route.
