The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the dawn prayer, and the recitation became difficult for him. When he finished, he said, "I see that you recite behind your imam."We said, "Yes, by Allah, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Do not do so, except for the Mother of the Quran, for there is no prayer for one who does not recite it."
Graded sahih. It was also transmitted by Abu Dawud in the Book of Prayer, chapter on one who omits the recitation of the Opening Chapter of the Book in his prayer, hadith 823, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Yasar, and he made clear his hearing of it in Ahmad's version and others. Its chain is hasan, Makhul being free from tadlis, and the hadith was graded hasan by Daraqutni, and graded sahih by Bayhaqi, and by Ibn Khuzayma (hadith 1581), and by Ibn Hibban, Abu Dawud, Bukhari, Hakim, Ibn Allan, Ibn Mulaqqin, Khattabi, and others. The hadith has sahih corroborating narrations in Abu Dawud (hadith 824) and in Bayhaqi's book on the recitations, and others.
