Some men from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ died before wine was made forbidden. When wine was prohibited, Some men asked, "What about our companions who died while still drinking wine?" Then this verse was revealed, "There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have eaten, provided they fear Allah, believe, and do righteous deeds" [Maidah 5:93].

مات رجال من أصحاب النبي ﷺ قبل أن تحرم الخمر فلما حرمت الخمر قال رجال كيف بأصحابنا وقد ماتوا يشربون الخمر فنزلت {ليس على الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات جناح فيما طعموا إذا ما اتقوا وآمنوا وعملوا الصالحات}
