Ibn Abbas recited "This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion" [Maidah 5:3] while a Jewish man was with him.The man said, "Had this verse been revealed to us, we would have taken the day of its revelation as a festival."Ibn Abbas replied, "It was revealed on a day that was itself a festival, on a Friday and on the Day of Arafah."
حدثنا عبد بن حميد أخبرنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة
قرأ ابن عباس {اليوم أكملت لكم دينكم وأتممت عليكم نعمتي ورضيت لكم الإسلام دينا} وعنده يهودي فقال لو أنزلت هذه علينا لاتخذنا يومها عيدا قال ابن عباس فإنها نزلت في يوم عيد في يوم جمعة ويوم عرفة
