I fell ill, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me while I was unconscious. When I regained consciousness, I asked, "How shall I dispose of my wealth?" He remained silent until the verse was revealed, "Allah instructs you concerning your children. To the male, a portion equal to that of two females" [Nisa 4:11].

Agreed upon by Bukhari and Muslim. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Inheritance, in the chapter "The saying of Allah Most High, 'Allah instructs you concerning your children...'" etc, no. 6723, and Muslim, no. 161, both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with the same wording. It has already appeared as no. 2097.
