The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Uhud, "O Allah, curse Abu Sufyan. O Allah, curse Harith bin Hisham. O Allah, curse Safwan bin Umaya."Then the verse was revealed, "Not for you is the decision in any way, whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them" [Aal Imran 3:128].So Allah turned to them in mercy, and they embraced Islam, and their Islam became excellent.
Its isnad is hasan. Nasai transmitted it in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 11078, from Qutayba, and Abu Dawud, no. 1521, and Ibn Majah, no. 1395, transmitted it from the hadith of Uthman bin Mughira through the same chain. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 2454, and Ibn Adi and Ibn Kathir graded it hasan. Some narrators reported it as a stopped narration, but this is not a defect that undermines it.
