The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pause between phrases when reciting. He would say, "All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds" [Fatihah 1:2], then pause. Then "the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy" [Fatihah 1:3], then pause. And he would recite it as "Master of the Day of Judgment" [Fatihah 1:4].

كان رسول الله ﷺ يقطع قراءته يقول {الحمد لله رب العالمين} ثم يقف {الرحمن الرحيم} ثم يقف وكان يقرؤها {ملك يوم الدين}
Its chain is daif. Ahmad narrated it in 6/302, hadith 27118, from Yahya bin Saeed Umawi with the same wording, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith 493, as did Nawawi, and Hakim in 2/232, according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It has a corroborating witness mentioned earlier at 2923. The hadith has another version in Abu Dawud, hadith 4001, where Ibn Jurayj narrated it using "an" without stating direct transmission, but the hadith of Ahmad at 6/288 makes it unnecessary.
