The Prophet ﷺ said, "My example and the example of the prophets before me is like a man who built a house, completing it and making it beautiful except for the place of one brick. People began entering it and marveling at it, saying, 'If only the place of this brick were filled.'"

قال النبي ﷺ إنما مثلي ومثل الأنبياء قبلي كرجل بنى دارا فأكملها وأحسنها إلا موضع لبنة فجعل الناس يدخلونها ويتعجبون منها ويقولون لولا موضع اللبنة
Agreed upon by both. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Virtues, chapter on the Seal of the Prophets, hadith 3534, from Muhammad bin Sinan, and Muslim, hadith 2287, from the hadith of Salim bin Hayan, with the same wording.On this topic there are also narrations from Abu Hurairah [Muslim, hadith 2286] and Ubayy bin Kaab [to come, 3613].
