The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would space out his exhortations to us over the days, fearing that we might grow weary.
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو أحمد حدثنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن أبي وائل
كان رسول الله ﷺ يتخولنا بالموعظة في الأيام مخافة السآمة علينا
Agreed upon. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Knowledge, in the chapter on how the Prophet ﷺ used to choose suitable times to give admonition so that they would not grow weary, hadith 68, and Muslim, hadith 2821, both from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri with this wording.
