The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you name a child after me, do not also use my kunya."This hadith is hasan gharib through this chain of transmission. It has been reported that the Prophet ﷺ heard a man in the market calling out, "Abu al-Qasim!" The Prophet ﷺ turned around, but the man said, "I did not mean you."The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Do not adopt my kunya as your own."Hasan bin Ali al-Khallal narrated this to us, saying that Yazid bin Harun reported from Humayd, from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ. This hadith indicates that it is disliked to use the kunya Abu al-Qasim.

قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا سميتم بي فلا تكتنوا بي قال هذا حديث حسن غريب من هذا الوجه روي عن النبي ﷺ أنه سمع رجلا في السوق ينادي يا أبا القاسم فالتفت النبي ﷺ فقال لم أعنك فقال النبي ﷺ لا تكتنوا بكنيتي حدثنا بذلك الحسن بن علي الخلال حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حميد عن أنس عن النبي ﷺ بهذا وفي هذا الحديث ما يدل على كراهية أن يكنى أبا القاسم
[Its chain is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Manners, the chapter on those who see that the two should not be combined, hadith 4966, from the hadith of Abu Zubayr, and he narrated with an "an" formula. The hadith of Bukhari, hadith 3538, and Muslim, hadith 2133, from the hadith of Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari, serves as sufficient support for it.The hadith, "He heard a man in the market calling out..." is agreed upon. Bukhari reported it in hadith 2220, 12221, 3537, and Muslim in hadith 2131.
