The Prophet ﷺ used to change ugly names.Abu Bakr said that Umar bin Ali sometimes narrated this hadith from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ as a mursal report, without mentioning Ayesha in the chain.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن نافع البصري حدثنا عمر بن علي المقدمي عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أن النبي ﷺ كان يغير الاسم القبيح قال أبو بكر وربما قال عمر بن علي في هذا الحديث هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن النبي ﷺ مرسلا ولم يذكر فيه عن عائشة

[Sahih] Baghawi related it in Sharh al-Sunnah (12/342), and Abu Shaykh in Akhlaq al-Nabi ﷺ (p. 253), from the hadith of Umar bin Ali Muqaddami, "I heard Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Abu Hurairah," with the same wording. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and the hadith has corroborating narrations.
