The Prophet ﷺ set for them a time limit of every forty nights for trimming the nails, clipping the mustache, and shaving the pubic hair.

عن النبي ﷺ أنه وقت لهم في كل أربعين ليلة تقليم الأظفار وأخذ الشارب وحلق العانة
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in "Combing the Hair," chapter "On Trimming the Mustache," no. 4200, from the hadith of Sadaqah bin Musa, and he is daif, as the majority of scholars have graded him daif. The following hadith renders it unnecessary.
