The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed through the mosque one day while a group of women were sitting there. He gestured with his hand in greeting. Abdul-Hameed demonstrated the gesture with his own hand.
[Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on greeting women, no. 5204, and Ibn Majah, no. 3701, from the hadith of Shahr bin Hawshab, with the same wording. Muhajir Ansari corroborated him, as recorded by Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad.The statement of Ibn Awn is sahih from him, and the correct view regarding Shahr is that he is hasan al-hadith.
