The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever calls others to guidance will have a reward equal to the rewards of those who follow him, without that diminishing their rewards in the slightest. And whoever calls others to misguidance will bear sin equal to the sins of those who follow him, without that diminishing their sins in the slightest."
حدثنا علي بن حجر أخبرنا إسمعيل بن جعفر عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ من دعا إلى هدى كان له من الأجر مثل أجور من يتبعه لا ينقص ذلك من أجورهم شيئا ومن دعا إلى ضلالة كان عليه من الإثم مثل آثام من يتبعه لا ينقص ذلك من آثامهم شيئا
Muslim also reported it, in the Book of Knowledge, chapter on whoever establishes a good or bad sunnah, and whoever calls to guidance or misguidance, hadith no. 2674, from Ali bin Hajar with the same chain.
