Two pauses I memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Imran bin Husayn rejected this and said, "We only memorized one pause."So we wrote to Ubayy bin Kaab in Medina, and Ubayy wrote back that what Samura had memorized was correct.Saeed said, We asked Qatada, "What are these two pauses?"He replied, "When he entered his prayer, and when he finished the recitation."Then he later added, "And when he recited 'nor of those who go astray'."He said, He liked, after finishing the recitation, to pause until his breath returned to him.
[Hasan] Ibn Majah also narrated it in "Establishing the Prayers," chapter on the imam's two pauses of silence, hadith no. 844. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith no. 1578, and Ibn Hibban narrated it via the chain of Abdul-Ala bin Abdul-Ala, Ihsan: 1804, and Hakim, 1/215, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Hasan Basri's narration from Samura came from a written record, and narrating from a written record is sahih according to the majority of scholars, and the hadith is established as coming from Hasan Basri. There is also a narration on this topic from Abu Hurairah, [see Sahih Bukhari, hadith no. 744, and Muslim, hadith no. 598, and Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 449, and Mustadrak, 1/215].
