The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Two hungry wolves let loose among a flock of sheep do not cause more harm to it than a person's greed for wealth and status causes to his religion."
حدثنا سويد بن نصر أخبرنا عبد الله بن المبارك عن زكريا بن أبي زائدة عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن سعد بن زرارة
قال رسول الله ﷺ ما ذئبان جائعان أرسلا في غنم بأفسد لها من حرص المرء على المال والشرف لدينه
[Hasan] Nasai narrated it in al-Kubra, from Suwayd bin Nasr (Tuhfat Ashraf, 8/316, no. 11136), and Ahmad, 3/460, from the hadith of Ibn Mubarak, through him, and it is in his Zuhd, no. 181. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 2472. The hadith has corroborating narrations with Tabarani in al-Awsat (Majma al-Zawaid, 10/250), and Hakim, 3/420, and Abu Yaala, 11/331, no. 6449, and others.And on this topic there is also a report from Ibn Umar [Abu Naeem Malik, in Hilyat Awliya, 7/89, and Qudaai in Musnad Shihab, 2/26, no. 813].Ibn Kaab, whose name is Abdullah.
